can I use these? or the sound they produce is not ok for bellydancing?
You could, but coins are much better. They look right and they can make a range of sounds rather than just tinkling. They're very light and responsive and make a rattle and sliding sound rather than a tinkle.
Bells would make a very monotonous sound - and stand out as different if you were dancing with others.
You can get coin scarfs really cheap on ebay and cannibalise them.
Buying coins to sew on would probably work out expensive.

If you are going for a tribal look - you'll want the heavier ethnic coins, real coins with loops soldered on them.

I did try a homemade belt with bells once. Didn't really work. I also have an Indian chain belt with "bell shaped" bells. Looks nice but not good to dance in.
