What kind of snake was it? Black, green spots, shaker tail?

We live in Louisiana. We saw a snake on the porch that was black with green dots/spots/dashes. It was shaking it's tail, and we could hear a noise coming from it. What kind of snake was it, and if you have a link, please send it b/c I've been trying to find it online.

Most garter snakes come in various colors, but many are have prominent green on black markings. Like many non-venomous snakes, they will often rattle their tails in dry leaves or against other object to mimic rattlesnakes.

The only venomous snake that comes anywhere near this description in Louisiana is the pygmy rattlesnake, I have seen darker ones than this pic that have turqoise green markings. But not likely what it was, just adding for possibilty.
