Singer Jessica Simpson was recently seen with her new engagement ring when she went for the promotion her clothing line. The man in her life is star NFL player Eric Johnson who has been dating her for the past 5 months. Simpsonâs engagement ring has a 4-carat, oval-shaped ruby stone flanked by two diamonds with a gold ring.
This ring is from Lane, a Los Angeles jeweler who is known for his celebrity bridal clientele. Interestingly, Simpsonâs ex-husband Nick Lachey had proposed to girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo just a week before with a giant Asscher-cut diamond, Jewelry expert Gus Davis of New York City-based Camilla Dietz Bergeron said that this ring was a rare vintage piece, circa 1900, costing atleast $100,000. Optoelectronics engineers have formulated a technique to make gold of any color by carving tiny shapes onto its surface. As a matter of fact, Gold as metal is actually colorless. It absorbs blue light which gives it the yellow color. With silver, one can have any color whereas copper owes its reddish orange hue to absorption of blue and green light.
Jianfa Zhang at the University of Southampton with her colleagues has incepted an interesting way to carve a different type of repeating pattern on the surface of a metal. The patterns would be smaller than the wavelength of visible light. The properties of the electrons of the metal would thus be altered. The variation in size and depth of these pattern rings will alter the metalâs absorption and reflection of light.
This innovation does hold a key to a plethora of designs and wonders which jewelry folks could do with gold. I wonder how much time it would take to actually see colored gold accessories hitting the retail shelves.

My Bracelet seem tobe from British Guiana. It's looks quite old with the name and it has 'British Guiana damus petimusque' written in the face of the clasp with a picture of a ship. It nuggets of gold joined together by a chains.
It hard to describe but i hope that gives you an idea or any clues to its history.

The South Caribbean Force’s Colors of green and gold were retained in the Regimental Flag and lanyard. The flag consisted of a badge at the top of which was the royal crown − the symbol of authority; beneath was a laurel wreath enclosing the colonial emblem of a sailing ship encircled by a belt on which was written the motto, Damus Petimusque Vicissim; on a scroll at the bottom was the title, British Guiana Volunteer Force and this was backed by a pair of crossed swords, all set against a plain green background.
