What way should I do pushups to reap the most benefit. I am 13 now , so preferably avoid the weights. Should I always do pushups to muscular failure with minimal rest time in between every set? Start with a few counts say 10-15 and u can gradually increase them as u get used to the exercise. Don't strain too much as it may lead to muscle tearing and then all will be in vain. And don't forget to stretch yourself a bit or warm up in general before u actually start the main exercise...
Oh yeah another important thing. Don't touch the ground till the end of the set. And don't bend ur knees coz that takes the pressure off the important part and sometimes puts the pressure on a completely wrong area thereby straining urself without any gain.
Also try to keep your elbows as parallel to each other and pointing backwards if u wanna work on ur arms. In this case ur arms will be sticking to ur body from the side. But try verifying this particular kind of pushup from some1 more knowledgable in this respect before u actually try it out urself...
