There is no way it can shatter the cartilage because it's very delicate and the piercing earring is REALLY sharp. It has about the same percentage of shattering cartilage as a needle at a professional artist's establishment.

and probably for liability reasons they wouldn't let you. you're a minor. just go back a 2nd time.
