Glass is a hard, brittle, transparent material used for windows, bottles, or eyewear. Examples of such materials are limited and include soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass, acrylic glass, sugar glass, isinglass (Muscovy-glass), or aluminum oxynitride. These, when well made, are completely transparent and monochrome, weighty and radiant. They are composed of fixed alkali, unadulterated siliceous sand, calcined flints and litharge in different proportions. The flint glass contains a big amount of oxide of lead, which by assured processes is simply separated. The plate glass is poured in the melted condition upon a bench covered by means of copper. The plate is cast 1/2 an inch thick or extra, and is ground down to a good amount of thickness, and then refined.
