For one week during early spring, college and university students in many countries including the United States, Canada, and China leave their classrooms and take a much-needed respite from hitting the books. A survey shows that the most popular spring break travel destinations are South Padre Island, Lake Havasu, Panama City, with the Mexican city of Cancun as the international location of choice for many students. What do all these locations have in common? Water and parties -- and a host of opportunities for young students on spring break to show off body jewelry of different designs. does anyone know where to get cowrie shell alternatives?
I love the look of shell anklets,bracelets,necklaces,but I will not wear them knowing that they have been ripped from a living animal.I have found such jewelry beads made from wood,but I was wondering if there are any companies that honestly make shell jewelry,of which the shells have been found on the beaches already abandoned by it's home owner? Thanks heaps:)
I have never come across any artificial shell jewelry. And Im pretty sure there are no companies who only use already abandoned shells. There isnt a pressing need for "humane" shell jewelry, unfortunately not many people care. Even if I found a company who claimed that, I would be suspicious. Cowries and Snails grow with their shell, so they never abandon it. Most jewelry uses small shells, which means they were only babies when they were "harvested". Your best bet would be to use wooden or glass beads. Sorry. It is great that you decided not to participate in cruel jewelry.
